Food Security and Poverty Eradication
This Thematic Group deals with the strategies for the eradication of extreme poverty, hunger and undernourishment and includes such issues as the promotion of sustainable agriculture and agro-ecological intensification of food production, reduction of food waste, rising incomes in rural populations, sustainable livelihoods through value addition in agriculture at the local level, youth and women economic empowerment through wealth creation, etc. Activities in this Thematic Group are consistent with SDGs 1, 2 and 8.
