The Centre has been conceptualized in such a way that it fundamentally runs on a low budget, consisting of a small administrative outfit made up of the Director, a Deputy Director, and a Centre Administrative Secretary heading a lean administrative support. The institutional programmes of the Centre, in terms of research, teaching and academic support, projects, interventions, outreach and advocacy, are undertaken by scientists, professionals and academic staff domiciled in the faculties, departments, centres, directorates and other academic, administrative and technical support units in the University. Specific tasks and projects are undertaken through Thematic Groups configured to undergird activities in a cross-cutting context in the areas of sustainable development covered by the
17 SDGs as adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in September 2015 on behalf of the global community, reproduced in the Appendix. The Thematic Groups and related SDGs are briefly outlined here.
